Episode 240: Into the Blue Zone

Today the Mercury Marine Destination takes us all the way down to sunny Key West Florida. Charlie and wife Terri take the Ram on another long trip and have fun with the hard fighting warm water Sharks. Bull Sharks, Hammerheads, Reef Sharks, talk about exciting, especially when they are so fired up they are bumping the boat!! Glad it was a big boat!!! After Charlie and Terri had several fish ripped from the hooks and broke off by the increasing number of hungry Sharks in the area, time to stick them back! Not taking it lightly and coming prepared, the pair quickly rigged up a heavier outfit. A 20 size Okuma Makaira Big Game Reel matched to the new Makaira rod, 130 lb test Seaguar Kanzen Braid, a 130 lb test Seaguar Fluorocarbon shock leader and a 10/0 Mustad Ultra Point Big Gun hook. It didn't take but a few seconds with fresh bait in the water to lock into one of these monsters! Sharks should not be feared but respected. If you make yourself look like food, then you might be bit, but what they are, are a wonderful game fish that is full of fight and usually willing.

Towing the Crestliner Raptor with ease, or the long trip to Key West Florida, the RAM has earned a reputation for not only being comfortable, but dependable. Year after year Charlie and Terri take their RAM Diesel 2500 on many long trips, and this vehicle has been remarkably flawless. Features that were once thought not needed are now irreplaceable, like the backup camera, Ram Box, heated and vented seats, the room of the Mega Cab, and the list goes on. The only surprise is what RAM comes out with each year that makes this vehicle even nicer than the one before! No sales pitch here, just a great comfortable dependable work truck and Charlie loves his RAM. When work is getting to the fishing spots, what can be more important than reliability, even the 28 hours of driving time to get to Key West is not in anguish, but enjoyed!! If you are planning a trip to the Keys, the Holiday Inn Express in Marathon offers clean spacious rooms in the heart of the Keys, 305-289-0222.
